Supporting Big Island Farmer's Markets

Drifting through a farmer's market has always been one of my favorite activities. It's stirring with life, stimulating to the senses, and simply irresistible. Musical tunes humming in the background and a plethora of appealing arts and crafts to browse through. My weak spot is for handmade jewelry! Of course, we must not forget about the delectable food, and the abundance of fresh, locally grown, fruits and vegetables.

Supporting small businesses like our local farmers and artisans, strengthens our communities. Itʻs a healthy, affordable, and environmentally friendly choice. It's healthier because it's fresh from the farm and therefore retains much more of its nutrients. Many times it's more affordable than purchasing produce from the grocery store. It is also more environmentally friendly because the route from the farm to your table is much shorter and requires less resources to get it from point A to point B.

Be sure to visit a local farmers market near you, and support local!
